LONGMEADOW, Mass. – The Longmeadow girls soccer team Wednesday got two goals from Jamie Greenman in a 3-1 win over Wahconah.

The Lancers took a 2-0 lead early in the second half, but Anna Doyle scored with an assist from Olivia Gamberoni to cut the deficit in half for Wahconah.

But with 15 minutes left, Longmeadow got an insurance goal to preserve the win.

“It was a hard-fought game,” first-year coach Maggie Rivers said of Wahconah’s season opener. “Edrie Collins played out of her mind with 10 saves. She shut down several great opportunities from [Longmeadow].

“All in all, it was a great first game in a very tough league. My girls never gave up and played with guts.”

Wahconah put five shots on Longmeadow keeper Mikaela Reynolds.

Wahconah (0-1) goes to Chicopee Comp next Wednesday.
