Monument Mountain Girls Advance on Shutout Win

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Iris Firth scored a pair of goals Saturday to lead the Monument Mountain girls soccer team to a 3-0 win over Clinton in the first round of the Division 4 State Tournament.
 
Jade Nelson scored the game-winner in the fifth minute with an assist from Avery Raifstanger.
 
Firth added a pair of insurance goals, each on an assist from Marty Cunningham, to put the Spartans up by three goals midway through the first half.
 
Fourteenth-seeded Monument Mountain (11-5-3) is in the tournament's Sweet 16, awaiting the winner of Sunday's game between Littleton and Monomoy.
