Horan Scores Two as Monument Mountain Girls Advance to Quarters

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Fiona Horan scored two goals and assisted on another Monday as the Monument Mountain girls soccer team defeated Greenfield, 4-0, to advance to the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament.
 
Horan scored the game-winner in the first half, an unassisted tally that sent the Spartans into the break up a goal.
 
In the second half, she set up Molly Flynn to make it 2-0.
 
Flynn then had an assist on Abbey Kinne’s goal, before Horan scored got another unassisted goal to provide the final margin.
 
Helen Pajeski stopped four shots for the Spartans, who outshot the Green Wave, 16-4.
 
Seventh-seeded Monument Mountain (10-5-3) moves on to face No. 2 Hampshire Regional (12-3-2), a 12-1 winner over Putnam on Monday.
