LENOX, Mass. -- Lenox senior Nicole Gamberoni scored a goal and set up three more, passing the 100-point mark for her career and leading the Millionaires to a 6-0 win over Duggan on Monday in the Western Massachusetts Division 4 quarter-finals.

Gamberoni set up Abby Schilling’s game-winner in the 12th minute and scored with an assist from Schilling midway through the first half to hit 100 points for her career.

“Nicole has been a special player for Lenox over the last several years,” Lenox coach Kyle Zinchuk said. “She has been with the team since eighth grade, and has been a starter for almost her entire career. As a freshman, Nicole started contributing regularly in games, and has been a consistent presence and offensive threat since then.

“With 50 career goals and 52 career assists, it really shows her overall ability as a midfielder in the offensive third. She's equally comfortable finishing as she is setting up her teammates with great opportunities. I attribute this to her ability to play the ball well with both feet and her vision on the field. She only needs to generate a step of space for her to get dangerous shots from either feet, and when defenses overplay her as a result, she is able to take advantage of the space created for her teammates by placing the ball in great spots for them.”

Schilling scored twice, and Julie Pehlert, Mary Eliot and Aidan Burns each scored a goal for Lenox, which got two saves from Sophie Patella.

Zinchuk said that Gamberoni has been a constant contributor for the third-seeded Millionaires, who take a 14-4-1 record into Wednesday’s sectional semi-final against Ware at Holyoke High School.

“What has been most impressive is the consistency with which she has earned her points,” he said. “The most points she's had in a single game is four, and there have been only a handful of those. She's earned her points by contributing in almost every single game, for example earning at least one point in 17 out of 19 games so far this year.”
