LENOX, Mass. – Kayleigh Davis scored the only goal of the night Friday as the Monument Mountain girls soccer team outbattled South County rival Lenox for a 1-0 win.

Lenox coach Brian Seminara said it was a back-and-forth battle all game between the now Central League foes.

“Monument made the most of a corner kick in the first half, that was a product off of a saved penalty kick by Ella Hall and got the go ahead goal,” he said. “In the second half, both teams pushed for a goal, but defenses held strong on both sides. Overall, the majority of the game was fought in the middle of the field.”

Hall finished with 11 saves for the Millionaires.

Emily Mead stopped four shots to earn the shutout for the Spartans.

Monument Mountain (5-2-2) is off until Oct. 6 when it goes to Southwick.

Lenox (1-5-1) is at Granby on Monday.
