PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Julia Eline-Wright and Sadie Tierney each scored a goal, and the PIttsfield girls soccer team kept its post-season hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Monument Mountain on Saturday.
Kendra Buda set up Eline-Wright for a 20-yard blast that proved the game-winning goal in the 52nd minute.
Eight minutes later, freshman Tierney scored her first career varsity goal with an assist from Nicole Brindle.
“We really moved the ball well today,” PHS coach Andy Waluszko said. “We played a very solid team game where everyone contributed, were supporting each other, challenging every 50/50 ball, and communicating.
“The back line of Sadie Supranowicz, Britney Perkett, Natasha Shade, and Grace Cella played very well in preventing a very good Monument team from getting a lot of quality shots on net.”
Hayley Tobin needed to make seven saves to earn the shutout win.
Helen Pajeski made 13 saves for Monument Mountain, which finishes the regular season with a record of 10-3-5 and wins the Berkshire County North Division with a record of 5-1-2.
Pittsfield (5-9-3, 2-2-3), can wrap up second place in the North, and a berth in the Western Massachusetts tournament on Monday, when it finishes the regular season at Wahconah.
