WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- It wasn't the start the Mount Greylock girls' soccer team had envisioned but, in the end, the Mounties did more than enough to come away with a 4-1 home win over Mount Everett on Friday.

Tom Ostheimer's club defeated the Eagles 7-0 on the road on Wednesday to clinch a berth in the Division 2 Western Mass. tournament, but it was Everett who threw the first punch in Friday's rematch. Brooke Morehouse scored off of an assist from Taylor Garrett less than 10 minutes into the game, waking up a Greylock squad that might have been looking forward to Saturday's road game with Hoosac Valley. The winner of that game will be awarded with the South Division title.

Sophomore Kelsey Orpin played a big role in helping the Mounties (9-3-3) rally back to take a 2-1 lead at halftime. She set up a pair of goals, one by senior Alexandra DeVeaux in the 13th minute and another by freshman Melissa Swann in the 32nd minute, to give her a team-leading five assists this year. Junior Sophie Leamon then put the game away shortly after the second half began, scoring a pair of goals within a three-minute span to assure Greylock has the same amount of points as Hoosac does entering Saturday's winner-take-all contest.

After allowing Morehouse's early goal, senior keeper Margot Besnard (one save) was clean the rest of the way before allowing freshman Charlotte Rand (two stops) to close out the game in goal. Besnard did manage to pick up her third assist of the season while playing the field, setting up Leamon's first goal of the game in the 49th minute.

Sam Hoover made 16 saves in net for the Eagles, who close out the season with a final record of 3-14.

The Mounties play their fourth game in five days on Saturday, kicking off against the Hurricanes at 12 p.m.
