DALTON, Mass. -- Pat McLaughlin birdied the seventh hole en route to a 1-over-par round of 36 to earn medalist honors and lead the Wahconah golf team to a 159-219 win over Lee on Wednesday.

Each of the four scorers for Wahconah registered a birdie as the team placed five players at 43 or better.

Timmy Kaley and Brady Breitmaier each joined McLaughlin in breaking par on No. 7; they finished at 40 and 41, respectively. Sam McLaughlin birdied the eighth hole on his way to a 42. Kevin Esko just finished out of the scoring for his team, carding a 43.

“We played pretty consistently today,” Wahconah coach Pete Terpak said. “With each passing day, I'm seeing our boys improve. Today, Sam McLaughlin was on track to break 40, until a triple on the last hole dashed those hopes. Impressive for an eighth-grader to show that type of game. I'm proud of Sammy. Sometimes you let a good round slip away but that's what it takes to learn and grow.”

Nick McDonough led Lee with a 50.

Wahconah is at Taconic and Lee travels to face Mount Greylock on Friday.
