Pittsfield Girls, Boys Win at Hoosac Valley

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- The Pittsfield boys and girls track and field teams defeated Hoosac Valley on Thursday afternoon.
 
Sincere Moorer, Connor Hayford and Lucas Benoit each won a pair of events for the Generals in the boys meet.
 
For the girls, Pittsfield's Meredith McCandless won the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 44.16 seconds and the javelin with a mark of 101 feet, 4 inches.
 
McCandless also helped the Generals win the 4-by-400 relay to pick up five points in a 97-43 win.
 
Pittsfield's boys won the dual meet by a score of 110-31.
 
Hoosac Valley's girls were led by Lily Boudreau, who was a perfect three-for-three in the events she entered.
 
Boudreau won the long jump with a mark of 15-9-1/4 and the 200 meters (27.65) and 400-meter hurdles (1:11.48).
 
In the boys meet, the Hurricanes' Justin Levesque won the 1600 meters (5:06.13) and 3200 meters (11:12.50) and ran the anchor leg on Hoosac Valley's winning 4-by-800 relay quartet.
 
Pittsfield's Moorer won the triple jump (39-10-1/2) and the high jump (5-6).
 
Hayford took the shot put with a throw of 47 feet and the javelin with a mark of 197-3 that beat the field by more than 75 feet.
 
Benoit earned a sweep of the hurdles, taking the 110 in 19.08 seconds and the 400 in 1:11.98.
