Wahconah Unified Track Second at State Meet

MILFORD, Mass. -- The Wahconah Unified track and field team Wednesday finished second in Division 1 at the all-state championships at Milford High School.
 
Topher Golembeski won the mixed javelin Tier 1 competition with a throw of 13 feet, 11 inches, and finished second in the 400 meters.
 
Hayden Robb won the mixed long jump for Tier 1, and Buddy Clark finished first in the 100 dash (33.25 seconds) and sixth in the shot put in his class.
 
In Unified events, which allow special education students and regular education students to compete together on the same team, athletes are grouped into categories based on relative ability.
 
Wahconah’s Cameryn Catelotti won the mixed shot put in her class with a throw if 8 feet, 8 inches and placed fifth in the 100 meters (39.60).
 
Wahconah picked up another first place in the shot from Rachel Figiela, who won with a mark of 21-2. Figiela also won an individual title in the 800 meters with a time of 3:48.85.
 
Other finishers for Wahconah on Wednesday included: Maria Gamberoni (shot put and 400) Alisa Mara (shot put), Jovian HIggins (shot put), Brock Prett (long jump and 100), John Kowalczyk (long jump), Dillan Mara (javelin and 100), Jessica Jones (javelin and 100), Hannah Robbins (javelin), Noelle Furlong (javelin and 400), Helen Jamrog (100 meters), Gabby Trager (100), T Warren (100) and Arden McKnight (800).
