BENNINGTON, Vt. -- Mount Greylock senior Marley Buffis recorded her 1,000th career dig, and the Mounties earned a four-set win over Mount Anthony on Wednesday evening.

Buffis came in needing two digs for the milestone and reached it in the first set of a 25-14, 19-25, 25-13, 25-11 victory.

Mounties coach Greg Geyer earlier this week praised Buffis and all the seniors on his roster.

“It’s awesome,” he said. “We’re able to do things where we have three different front row changes we can make with our players, because they’re so experienced. With a lot of teams, when you have someone on the varsity, they’re younger and not able to do so many different things.

“That’s a huge advantage we have strategically. They’re mature that way, and they all work really, really hard.”

Maddie Albert had 16 assists, four kills and four digs. Caroline Hadley led the Mounties with 13 kills and recorded three aces. Hannah Byrnes contributed seven kills, five digs and a block.

Mount Greylock hosts Pittsfield on Friday night.
