Mount Greylock Earns Three-Set Win from Monument Mountain

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Service runs by Takeira Darrow and Gabby Alvarez Tuesday allowed the Mount Greylock volleyball team to pull away for a narrow first set win en route to a 3-0 victory over Monument Mountain.
 
Darrow finished with seven aces and six kills for the Mounties, who prevailed, 25-22, 25-19, 25-17.
 
“Monument played nearly flawlessly throughout a first set that included many long, tense rallies,” Mount Greylock coach Greg Geyer said.
 
“Greylock continued with strong service runs throughout the second and third sets, which included a balanced offense with kills by Emma Sandstrom, Lainey gill, Celina Savage.”
 
Emmay Hayward had 21 digs. Lucy Shepard recorded a team-high nine kills and three aces. Lainey Gill had two aces and two kills.
 
Monument Mountain’s Elena Angerman went 12-for-13 on serves and notched five kills. Brianna Ayala was 13 of 14 on serves and had 13 assists. Marley Zorn had three kills and a block in the loss.
 
Mount Greylock goes to Westfield on Friday. Monument Mountain hosts Lenox on Monday.
