Salinetti, Monument Boys Edge Taconic at Mount Everett

SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Diego Salinetti finished first by a second and a half Wednesday to lead the Monument Mountain boys cross country team to a two-point win over Taconic.
 
Salinetti crossed the line in 16 minutes, 58.32 seconds, just ahead of Taconic’s Jacob Paris (16:59.98).
 
The Monument boys also got a third-place finish from Keegan Leach and a fifth-place showing from Peter Larochelle to earn a 27-29 win over Taconic.
 
The Monument Mountain girls cruise to victory in their dual meet against Mount Everett.
 
Freshman Aria Grossman led the Spartans by placing third in a time of 21:51.55. The first Eagle across the line was senior Carly Duval in 23rd place in 25:00.53.
 
It was a tight race in Wednesday’s other dual, where Taconic edged Wahconah by four points despite a first-place finish by Wahconah’s Haley Crosier (20:04.75).
 
Crosier finished more than a minute ahead of the field. Taconic’s Ahliya Phillips was second in 21:35.47.
 
In Wednesday’s other dual meet on the boys side, Wahconah beat Mount Everett, 22-39.
 
Wahconah’s Hayden Kendell led his team with a time of 17:05.99 and a fourth-place finish. Senior Cole Duval finished sixth in 17:20.32 on Senior Day for the host Eagles.
