County Wrestlers Head to Wayland for D3 State Meet

WAYLAND, Mass. -- Two Berkshire County wrestlers head to this weekend's Division 3 State Championships as the top seeds in their respective weight classes.
 
Mount Everett's Nick Lupiani at 106 pounds and Taconic's Dylan Burke at 195 each headline a 16-wrestler field when competition gets under way on Friday at Wayland High School.
 
Burke is joined at the state meet by five of his teammates for the defending D3 team champions.
 
Mike LaFreniere is seeded second at 132, and Shawn O'Shea is seeded fifth at 220 for Taconic. Eric Packard is ninth at 285 and Ryan Scott (145) and Mike Puskey (170) each are seeded 12th.
 
Mount Everett and Monument Mountain each send four wrestlers to the state meet.
 
Zack Lupiani joins Nick as a favorite to reach the semi-finals. Zack is seeded third at 126.
 
Eagles Eduardo Rodriguez (220) and Jeremiah Tomascak (152) are seeded eighth and ninth, respectively.
 
Each of the Monument Mountain wrestlers is seeded in the top half of his bracket.
 
Logan Mead is seeded second at 220. Sam Cormier is seeded third at 145. Ely Cormier (132) and Caden O'Rourke (195) are seeded fifth and seventh, respectively.
 
Mount Greylock sends two wrestlers to the state meet.
 
Jack Rosier is seeded 14th at 160 pounds. Ty Lepicier is seeded 16th at 120.
 
The state championship meet concludes on Saturday.
