Gamberoni, Santos Help Wahconah Girls, Monument Boys Win Track Openers

DALTON, Mass. -- Wahconah's Olivia Gamberoni and Monument Mountain's Kieran Santos each was a triple winner on Monday to lead their teams to dual meet victories in their season opener.
 
Wahconah's girls edged Monument Mountain, 69-65, and it was even closer on the boys side, where the Spartans pulled out a 62-59 win.
 
Gamberoni tied with Monument's Isabella Costella in the 100 meters, each breaking the tape in 13.47 seconds.
 
Gamberoni also won the 200 in 27.97 and took the triple jump with a mark of 31 feet, 1 inch.
 
Gamberoni also ran a leg on Wahconah's winning 4-by-400 relay quartet.
 
Santos won the 100 in 11.72, the high jump (6-1) and long jump (19-4).
 
For the Wahconah boys, Riley Gladu was a double-winner, taking the 1600 meters in 5:18.38 and the 3200 in 12:12.01.
 
Monument Mountain's Lily Fredsall was a double-winner in the girls meet, taking the discus in 81-02.5 and the javelin in 76-11.
 
Wahconah's Haley Crosier took first in the 800 (2:42.72) and the 1600 (6:08.46).
