PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- On a day that felt more like November than May 1, the county's Fall 2 harriers wrapped up their season at Springside Park on Saturday.

And as they did throughout April, the Pittsfield Generals ran away from the field.

Pittsfield's girls finished 38 points ahead of the field behind a first-place finish by Kellie Harrington.

In the boys race, the Generals were 11 points better than runner-up Lee after taking two of the top three places and four of the top seven.

Hoosac Valley's Justin Levesque was the individual champion in the boys race, crossing the finish line in 18 minutes, 48.27 seconds.

Pittsfield's John Archey was not far behind in 19:07.36, and David Babineau clocked a time of 19:33.13 for the Generals.

In third and fourth places, respectively, were Taconic's Owen McNeil (19:42.01) and Lee's Zach Bianco (19:43.53).

Harrington dominated the girls race, finishing in 20:45.15, 2-1/2 minutes ahead of the field.

"I started off strong, and I wanted to stay ahead the entire time," Harrington said. "I definitely had a decent gap going into the second part of the course."

Harrington was followed by teammate Meredith McCandless in 23:10.10. Lee's Brianna Kelly was third in 23:40.38.

The first Taconic runner across the line was Mia Zuccolo in 25:32.55.. Alyssa Garabedian led Hoosac Valley with a time of 25:52.22 in 15th place.

Lee's girls placed second to Pittsfield in the team standings with Taconic just four points behind and Hoosac Valley in fourth.

Harrington said that the course was in pretty good shape despite two days of drenching rain.

"The only muddy part was in the top loop, and that was very doable," she said.

Despite missing the traditional cross country season in the autumn due to COVID-19, Harrington was able to keep running on her own. And she played hockey in the winter to stay in shape, she said.

"We believed we were going to have a Fall 2 season in the spring," Harrington said. "I was just happy that we were going to get to race again, to see the team and run as a team."
