Meisberger, Lighten Reach Podium at All-State Meet

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Shannon Meisberger of Lenox finished second in the 400-meter hurdles at Saturday’s MIAA All-State Track and Field Championships at Westfield State University.
 
Meisberger, a junior, finished in 1 minute, 4.08 seconds to place behind Peabody senior Cynthia Aroke, who crossed the line in 1:02.68.
 
Meisberger was the top Berkshire County finisher at the event, which brought together athletes from all divisions from throughout the commonwealth.
 
In the boys meet, Wahconah sophomore Matthew Lighten reached the finals in the 100-meter dash, where he placed sixth with a time of 11.17. Milton’s Charles Smith won the event in 10.77.
 
Other athletes competing on Saturday included Drury’s Connor Meehan in the 800 meters, Wahconah’s Sean Harvey in the 400 hurdles, Wahconah’s Gianna Moncecchi in the pentathlon, Lenox’s Maggie Sorrentino in the mile, Monument Mountain’s boys 4-by-100 relay and girls 4-by-400 relay and Lenox’s girls 4-by-800 relay. Meisberger also competed in the 100 hurdles.
