SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Heyden Cutlip allowed one hit in a complete-game, five-inning win on Friday as the Mount Everett baseball team opened the Division 5 State Tournament with a 10-0 win over Salem Academy Charter.

“We came out hitting and taking advantage of Salem Academy’s errors,” Mount Everett coach Dan Lanoue said. “Hayden Cutlip was in command all game. Losing a perfect game in the 4th with a walk and a no hitter in the 5th on a single to center.

Cutlip struck out nine with just the two baserunners allowed.

Nathaniel von Ruden tripled and drove in a run, and Ian Lanoue drove in a pair of runs to power the Eagles’ offense.

Michael Devoti and Brady Carpenter each doubled in the win.

Mount Everett (12-8) moves on to play 10th-seeded Westport (14-4) in the Round of 32 on Monday.
