Vidal Scores Game-Winner as Hornets Win in Extra Innings

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Jared Blondin hit a ground ball to short to score Keeghan Vidal with one out in the bottom of the eighth to give the McCann Tech baseball team an 8-7 win over Westfield Tech on Wednesday at Joe Wolfe Field.
 
Vidal got the winning rally going when he drew a one-out walk. Andrew Levesque and Caleb Rondeau each followed with walks to load the bases for Blondin.
 
The Hornets rallied to tie the game twice in the late innings, scoring three in the fifth to make it 4-4 and three in the sixth to make it 7-7.
 
Rondeau scored the tying run in the sixth on an error after he reached on a single.
 
Blondin got the win on the mound with three innings of relief of starter Dalton Tatro. Together, they combined for 15 strikeouts.
 
Vidal went 2-for-3 with a double and scored three times in a five-hit McCann Tech attack. Andrew Koch also doubled.
 
The Hornets (9-3) host Mount Everett on Thursday.
