Butler Gets Win as Millionaires Qualify for State Tournament

SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Michael Butler struck out 10 hitters Thursday to lead the Lenox baseball to its 10th win of the season, a 12-1 victory over Mount Everett.
 
The victory qualified Lenox for the state tournament.
 
“Mike Butler gave up a single on the first pitch to Nathaniel VonRuden, who would later score,” Mount Everett coach Dan Lanoue said. “After that he shut us down, striking out 10 with zero walks.”
 
Butler also helped his cause at the plate by driving in a run.
 
Lenox’s offense was led by Cliff Flynn, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
 
Max Shepardson and Robbie Bazinet each went 2-for-4 with a double, and Samuel Joyce as 2-for-3 in an 11-hit Lenox attack.
 
Michael Ullrich and Heyden Cutlip split time on the mound for Mount Everett, allowing eight earned runs.
 
The Eagles (9-5) go to Monument Mountain on Saturday.
 
Lenox (10-4) goes to Monument Mountain on Friday.
