Paronto, Taconic Set Rematch with Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Connor Paronto allowed just one hit and no earned runs Sunday as the Taconic baseball team beat Belchertown, 8-1, in the Western Massachusetts Class B Semi-Finals.

 

The Thunder set up an all-Berkshire County regional final against city rival Pittsfield, a 4-0 winner over Monument Mountain on Sunday.

 

Pittsfield and Taconic, who split their games in the regular season, will play the rubber match on Tuesday at Wahconah Park.

 

On Sunday, Paronto struck out six and walked three in his complete-game effort on the mound.

 

Gavin O’Donnell and Ed Ferris led Taconic offensively, each going 2-for-4 at the plate and scoring a run.

 

Chase Wendling doubled and drove in a run, and Evan Roccabruna was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and a run batted in.

 

Taconic improved to 11-8 with the win.

 

In the regular season, the Thunder split with Pittsfield, each winning on the other’s home field.
