Taconic Rally Falls Short Against Westfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Westfield baseball team Monday scored five runs in the top of the first and held off a Taconic rally in the bottom of the seventh for a 7-6 win.
 
Jake Risley went 3-for-4 and drove in a run, and Brendan Stannard went 2-for-2 for Taconic.
 
Nick Taylor and Stevie Zuccalo split time on the mound. Taylor took the loss despite allowing no earned runs over four innings. Zuccalo scattered four hits in three innings of scoreless relief.
 
Taconic scored five times in the bottom of the seventh and had runners on first and second when Westfield got the final out on a fly ball.
 
Taconic (17-3) learns Tuesday when and against whom it will open play in the Western Massachusetts tournament.
