Taconic Baseball Opens Title Defense with Rout

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Anton Lazits, Sam Sherman and Matt Lee combined on a five-inning three-hitter Monday as the defending Division 3 state champion Taconic baseball team pounded Mohawk Trail, 21-1, in the first round of the Western Massachusetts tournament.
 
Lazits also homered twice, and Michael Britten homered in the win.
 
Bo Bramer went 3-for-4 with a double and drove in four runs.
 
Second-seeded Taconic (14-0) moves on to Wednesday’s sectional quarter-finals, where it will host No. 7 Mount Greylock (10-5), a 2-0 winner over Greenfield on Monday.
