Lee, Taconic Give Monument Mountain First Loss

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Matt Lee pitched a complete-game one-hitter Saturday to lead the Taconic baseball team to a 2-0 win over Monument Mountain.
 
The Thunder scored both its runs in the top of the fourth.
 
Damon Pause got things started with a one-out double to right field.
 
He then came home when Eddie Ferris followed with a double to make it 1-0.
 
Jake Hall’s groundball out moved Ferris to third with two out, and he came home when Quentin Christopher reached on an error.
 
That was all the offensive support Lee needed as he struck out 10 and allowed five walks in earning his fourth win of the season.
 
Jayder Raifstanger had the lone hit for Monument Mountain (9-1).
 
The Spartans’ Collin Parker was the hard-luck loser, throwing six strong innings and allowing just one earned run. He struck out four and walked three. Owen Wade pitched a scoreless seventh.
 
Taconic (8-1) hosts Holyoke on Monday.
