Matrigali Outduels Genaway as Hoosac Wins in Extra Innings

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Jack Sniezek singled and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth, and Noah Matrigali won a pitchers duel to beat Wahconah, 2-1, on Thursday.
 
Matrigali struck out eight and allowed just four hits in the complete game win as he won his first game of the season and lowered his ERA to 1.39.
 
Keagan McGrath went 3-for-4, and Sniezek was 2-for-4 at the plate, in addition to winning the game on a passed ball with one out in the eighth.
 
Will Genaway was the hard luck loser for Wahconah (4-3). He struck out 10 and walked four in addition to pitching around nine Hoosac Valley hits. Genaway stranded nine baserunners in 7-⅓ innings.
 
Joe Woronick was 1-for-3 and doubled home Ty Cowdrey with two out in the sixth to tie the game, 1-1.
 
Wahconah will look to snap a two-game losing streak when it hosts Lenox on Saturday.
 
Hoosac Valley (3-4) hosts Gateway on Friday.
