WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Shane Bernardo struck out eight on the mound and helped his cause by scoring a run in Wahconah’s 3-1 win over Mount Greylock on Friday.

Wahconah scored all its runs in the sixth inning, which started with back-to-back walks by Quinn Gallagher and Bernardo.

Colby Kirchner then singled to left to load the bases. Gallagher scored and everyone else moved up on a ball to the backstop, and Victor Ramos drove a sacrifice fly to center field to plate Bernardo and make it a 2-0 game.

After Mount Greylock starter Jack Cangelosi (six strikeouts) got a called third strike for the second out, Xavier Wellington singled to center to drive home Kirchner.

The Mounties got one back in the bottom of the sixth when Derek Paris came home on a Wahconah error, but Bernardo stranded a runner on base with the third out; he ended up stranding a man at second in the bottom of the seventh when he ended the game with a pickoff at first base.

Wellington went 2-for-3 in a five-hit Wahconah attack.

Wahconah (4-7) hosts Lee on Monday.

Mount Greylock (8-5) goes to Monument Mountain on Tuesday.
