Gillette Helps Power Mount Greylock to Upset Win in Semis

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Reece Gillette and Eli Ostheimer each drove in three runs Wednesday to lead the Mount Greylock baseball team to a 12-2 win over South Hadley in the semi-finals of the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament.
 
Cole Wojtkowski struck out seven and scattered five hits to earn a complete game win on the mound for the fifth-seeded Mounties (16-5), who earned a date in Saturday afternoon’s sectional final against No. 2 Wahconah (16-6).
 
South Hadley (16-6) entered Thursday's game as the No. 1 seed in the 10-team tournament.
 
Nick Rondeau went 2-for-3 with a double, and Phil Guest tripled in a 10-hit attack for Mount Greylock.
 
Brandon Condon went 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored, and Gillette was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks.
 
Mount Greylock to Wahconah, 11-2, back on April 26 but followed that with a 10-game winning streak en route to a share of the Berkshire County South Division title.
 
Saturday’s game at the University of Massachusetts is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.
