Gillette Walkoff Single Lifts Mount Greylock to Comeback Win

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Reece Gillette drove in Alex Backiel with one out in the bottom of the eighth on Saturday to give the Mount Greylock baseball team a 6-5 win over Amherst-Pelham.
 
The Mounties rallied from a 5-1 deficit after 3-½ innings to improve to win their second straight and improve to 11-4.
 
The winning rally started with a leadoff double by Backiel He moved up on Cole Wojtkowski’s sacrifice bunt.
 
After a pair of intentional walks to load the bases, Gillette took a 1-0 pitch to center field to score Backiel and win the game.
 
The Mounties tied it in the seventh with a two-out single by Cameron Winters to drive in Philip Guest, who tripled with two out.
 
Winters went 2-for-4 with a double. Jude Rorke doubled twice and scored twice. Cal Messina was 2-for-4.
 
On the mound, Dom Paris got the win with six innings of work out of the bullpen. He scattered five hits and allowed one run, striking out one and walking one.
 
Mount Greylock goes to Monument Mountain on Monday.
