SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Jack Cangelosi struck out 14 and took a perfect game into the sixth inning in leading the Mount Greylock baseball team to a 5-1 win over Mount Everett on Sunday.

"Jack was really dealing todaym and besides the one hard hit ball in the seventh, they were having trouble putting a bat on the ball which is evident with Jack’s 14 Ks," Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said.

"He’s been waiting for well over a week to finally get on the bump with three of our games being rained out previously."

Connor Boardman broke up Cangelosi's perfect game bid with a single up the middle in the bottom of the sixth.

Derek Paris and Landen Jamula each went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs to lead the Mounties' offense.

It was a 1-0 game going to the fifth, when Mount Greylock rallied for three runs.

Anthony Welch started with an infield single, and Tej Patel reached on an error. Paris then hit a stand-up triple to left to score two runs and came home on Jamula's RBI single.

Cangelosi helped his cause with an RBI triple to drive in Jamula in the seventh.

In the bottom of the seventh, Michael Devoti drew a one-out walk and ended up scoring on a triple by Tyler Candelari.

"I liked a lot of what we did the first game, but we definitely have stuff to work on," Rick Paris said. "But to get that first W was big."

Mount Greylock (1-0) goes to Bennington, Vt., to face Mount Anthony on Monday.

Mount Everett (1-1) hosts Lenox on Tuesday.
