HADLEY, Mass. – The Hopkins baseball team Monday cashed in on seven Mount Greylock errors to earn a 5-1 win.

“Unfortunately today we decided not to show up defensively,” Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said. “We just could not make a play, and neither team hit the ball well. The Hopkins pitcher had us off balance all game.

“I think we had only two hard hit balls all game, and one got held up in the wind with a couple runners on, and the other the pitcher made a spectacular grab on a line drive right back at him and turned a double play. That was our luck today.”

Andrew Ciaglo struck out 10 to earn the win on the mound for Hopkins Academy.

Derek Paris gave up five runs but just one earned run in four innings of work for Mount Greylock. Jackson Shelsy threw two innings of scoreless relief.

Anthony Welch drove in Thomas Art in the fifth inning for the lone Mount Greylock run.

Mount Greylock (5-2) goes to Lee on Tuesday.
