WARE, Mass. – Chase Doyle struck out 12 and allowed just one hit in leading the Mount Greylock baseball team to a 4-1 win over Ware on Thursday.

Derek Paris went 2-for-4, and Landen Jamula singled and drove in a run in a five-hit Mount Greylock attack.

“We got out of here with the W but it was not too pretty,” Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said. “Thankfully, Chase Doyle pitched a tremendous game. He was hitting his spots and his curveball was nasty today. Our pitching is really starting to round out.”

Paris was not pleased with his team’s defense, which committed five errors, or offense, which left six runners on base.

“But in the last inning, Tej Patel led us off with a hit followed by Derek’s infield single and then Anthony [Welch] was able to sac bunt over the runners, who then scored on Landen’s ground out and a wild pitch,” Paris said.

Mount Greylock (7-2) hosts Southwick on Friday.
