Racine, Marchbanks Lead Pittsfield in Playoff Opener

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Chase Racine went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double Friday to lead the Pittsfield baseball team to a 12-3 win over Amherst in the first round of the Western Massachusetts Division 1 tournament.
 
Patrick Rindfuss was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs to match Racine for game-high in that department.
 
Jake Taylor was 3-for-4 with a triple in a 12-hit Pittsfield attack.
 
Christian Marchbanks struck out 15 and allowed just one hit and no earned runs in 6-⅓ innings of work. Josh Lennon retired two to finish the game.
 
Third-seeded Pittsfield (10-4) will host Monday’s sectional quarter-final game against either No. 11 Chicopee Comp or No. 6 Westfield.
