PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Ian Benoit struck out four in a complete-game effort as the Pittsfield baseball team beat Agawam, 2-1, on Friday.
Benoit scattered five his and did not allow an earned run, lowering his earned run average to 1.53 as Pittsfield won its seventh straight.
The Generals (16-2) took a 1-0 lead in the first when Joe Traversa tripled and Benoit doubled him home.
After Agawam tied it in the top of the third, Pittsfield answered right back.
Carter Matthews singled and stole second, and Traversa singled to move Matthews over to third. Then Benoit grounded out, allowing Matthews to score the go-ahead run.
Pittsfield hosts East Longmeadow on Tuesday.
