Waterman Scores Six, But Hoosac Valley Falls in Sectional Tourney

WILBRAHAM, Mass. -- The Pope Francis boys lacrosse team jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and held on for a 13-10 win over Hoosac Valley on Wednesday in the Central/Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament.
 
Nick Waterman scored a game-high six goals, and Casey Meczywor scored twice and assisted on two more goals for the 10th-seeded Hurricanes (10-6).
 
Vance Eugene scored a goal, and Matt Hall had two assists in the loss.
 
Cam Alibozek stopped 15 shots for the Hurricanes.
 
Pope Francis was led by Brian Wiles with three goals and three assists.
 
The seventh-seeded Cardinals (11-10) advance to the quarter-finals, where they will meet No. 2 Nipmuc (17-2).
