Mendel Scores Eight in Hoosac Valley Girls Lacrosse Win

CHICOPEE, Mass. -- Alie Mendel scored seven goals Monday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team to a 20-9 win over Pope Francis.

 

Claudia Bresett scored four goals, and Aubrey Rumbolt and Brooke DiGennaro each had a hat trick for the Hurricanes.

 

“The girls came out with an aggressive tone and used that to build momentum,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly Meczywor said. “We also did a great job of defending in the offensive and middle third to force turnovers and back passes.”

 

Alyssa Blanchard made three saves to earn the win in goal.

 

Hoosac Valley (9-5) awaits Friday morning’s announcement of the seeds for the upcoming Western Massachusetts tournament to learn its next opponent.
