HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Alie Mendel scored four goals Monday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team to a 9-8 win over Hoosick Falls in a back-and-forth game.

“Their goalie is very solid so it took us a bit to find the back of the net,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly Meczywor said. “Defensively, Cairagan Greene and Skylar Case were tremendous with defensive pressure, ground balls and forcing turnovers.”

Brooke DiGennaro had a hat trick, and Claudia Bresett scored twice for the Hurricanes (2-1), who got five saves from Abi Disbrow.

Hoosac Valley is back on the road Wednesday at Chicopee Comp.
