Hoosac Valley Girls Lacrosse Edges Hoosick Falls, N.Y.

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Alie Mendel scored five goals, and the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team defeated Hoosick Falls, N.Y., 6-5, on Friday afternoon.
 
The Hurricanes came away with the one-goal win despite outshooting the visitors by a margin of 32-15 and putting 21 shots on Hoosick Falls goalie Meghan Backes.
 
“'We struggled defensively today and had a lot of fouls,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly Meczywor said. “We had trouble getting into a flow. Their goalie is tremendous, forcing us to be very specific with our shots. Alie was able to find the corners.”
 
Brooke DiGennaro had a goal and an assist, and Claudia Bresett set up two goals.
 
Abi Disbrow stopped five shots to earn the win between the pipes.
 
Hoosac Valley (4-1) hosts Wahconah on Monday evening at Renfrew Park.
