SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Alie Mendel scored six goals, and Claudia Breset added five to lead the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team to a 20-6 win over Springfield Central on Tuesday.

Brooke DiGennaro had a hat trick, and Abi Disbrow made six saves to earn the win in the goal.

“We controlled most of the game by winning draws and moving the ball in transition,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly Meczywor said. “It was nice to see some of our younger players get involved in the action tonight.

“Central player Maddy Coleman (six goals) was quick with her shot and movement.”

Hoosac Valley (5-1) hosts Lee on Wednesday at Renfrew Field in the second half of a boys-girls double-header.
