Wahconah Girls Clinch County Title

DALTON, Mass. -- Emmy Cote had a hat trick and assisted on a pair of goals, and the Wahconah girls lacrosse team defeated Lee, 14-2, on Tuesday to sew up the Berkshire County League Championship.
 
Tonight's win was one for the history books,” Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said. “It's the first time Wahconah girls lacrosse has won the Berkshire County Championship, and I couldn't be prouder of these girls.
 
“They've worked hard this season and the seniors have waited four years for this. It was a great night and we are looking forward to seeing what we can do in the post-season.”
 
Jordan Budaj had a hat trick, and Olivia Hines and McKenna McIlquham each scored two goals for Wahconah, which got a combined eight saves from Katie Bachli and Annalise Reardon.
 
Emma Bartini and Meryl Phair each scored a goal for Lee. Taryn Paul made 11 saves in the Wildcats’ goal.
 
Lee (4-9) hosts St. Mary’s of Westfield next Wednesday.
 
Wahconah (11-3) hosts Manchester, Vt.’s, Burr & Burton on Thursday.
