GROTON, Mass. -- Ellie Eisenklam scored two goals and set up two more to lead the Groton-Dunstable girls lacrosse team to a 17-5 win over Wahconah on Thursday night in the Central/Western Massachusetts Division 3 semi-finals.

Emmy Cote scored five goals, and McKenna McIlquham had a pair of assists for Wahconah, which got seven saves from Katie Bachli.

But top-seeded Groton-Dunstable (16-4) showed why they are the favorite to win the tournament on Saturday when they face No. 7 Bromfield (10-11), according to Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj.

Though disappointed in the outcome, Budaj was thrilled with the effort she got from her team, which finished the season 15-6.

“The best part of today is that our girls kept working hard until the final whistle and never gave up,” Budaj said. “This wonderful attribute is what has brought this team to the semi finals.

“We have had a great season this year and I couldn't be more proud of the hard work and dedication that these girls have displayed, they sure are a great bunch of players who became a fun family.”
