CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Jilly Cote scored three goals and set up five more Monday to lead the Wahconah girls lacrosse team to a 15-1 win over Hoosac Valley.

Hannah Bowlby also had a hat trick, and Ava Massaro, Chloe Accardi and Kaeli Talora each scored a pair of goals in the win.

“'Wahconah is a very skilled team and they move the ball very well,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly Meczywor said. “In contrast, we are a very young team with eight new players to the game. This year will be a great deal of learning and growth, and I've already seen so much these past two weeks. Looking forward to a great year.”

Karyssa Charon scored a goal for the Hurricanes, who got 10 saves from Emily Godfrey.

Sydney Smith stopped two shots to earn the win for Wahconah (2-0).

Wahconah goes to Mount Greylock on Friday.

Hoosac Valley (0-2) is at Lee on Wednesday.
