Stripp Scores Four in Mounties' Win

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Karen McComish scored two goals in a 7-0 run that propelled the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team to a 16-9 win over Hoosac Valley on Monday.

With 14 minutes, 46 seconds left in the first half, the Hurricanes had a 4-2 lead thanks to goals from Alie Mendel and Claudia Bresett.

But Caroline Flynn, Brooke Masse, Kristen Aliberti, Karen McComish, Arianna Walden, Emma Polumbo and McComish again scored to give the Mounties a 9-4 lead.

The Mounties took a 10-5 lead into half-time and never looked back.

Sarah Stripp led Mount Greylock with four goals, and Maggie Rorke added three for the Mounties, who got six saves from Julia Whitney.

Mendel finished with a hat trick, and Bresett and Aubrey Rumbolt each scored two for Hoosac. Abi Disbrow stopped seven shots for the Hurricanes (2-2), who host Pittsfield on Wednesday.

Mount Greylock (4-0) hosts Lee on Tuesday.
