WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- After a wild first minute that saw the teams combine for four goals, the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team defeated Chicopee, 13-4, on Wednesday.
Sarah Stripp and Lucy Barrett each scored three goals, and Caroline Flynn scored once for the Mounties.
Barrett started the scoring 13 seconds into the game with an assist from Maggie Rorke. Then, after Chicopee tied it 13 seconds later, Flynn and Emma Polumbo scored goals 12 seconds apart to give the Mounties a 3-1 lead.
Late in the half, Stripp scored three times in 3 minutes, 30 seconds to help Mount Greylock go to half-time with a 6-2 lead.
Chicopee got within two goals, but Barrett snapped their run with a goal from Arianna Walden, and the Mounties closed out the scoring with six more to improve to 2-0 this spring.
Sam MacWhinnie stopped six shots to earn the win in goal.
Mount Greylock travels to Lee on Thursday.
