BENNINGTON, Vt. -- Karen McComish scored off a deflected free position in the second overtime to give the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team a 13-12 win over Mount Anthony Union on Saturday afternoon.
Arianna Walden scored four goals and added an assist for the Mounties (3-0), who scored with 32 seconds left in regulation to force OT.
The Patriots got off to a 4-0 lead, but Caroline Flynn scored two quick goals, and Lauren Aliberti and Walden each scored to leave the Mounties down, 5-4, at half-time.
Mount Greylock tied the game, 10-10, with eight minutes left in regulation, then the teams traded goals to overtime.
"Mount Anthony showed incredible skill and won 15 draws and a majority of the ground balls," Mount Greylock coach Lindsey von Holtz said. "Mount Greylock played with a lot of heart and fought back hard. Mount Anthony had 16 free position shost. The Mount Greylock defense and goalie Julia Whitney kept the team in the game."
Whitney finished with eight saves to earn the win.
The Mounties host Hoosac Valley on Monday.
