NORTH ADAMS, Mass — After a pair of low-scoring games for the Drury softball team, the Blue Devils' offense got back on track in an 11-4 home win over Monument Mountain on Friday.

Drury (6-1) was held to just four runs total in two games against Hoosac Valley and Mount Everett earlier in the week but broke out against the Spartans (0-6) in a game where it was playing without leading hitter Amanda Ramsdell. Junior Katie Hancock more than picked up the slack, however, leading a 10-hit Blue Devils' barrage with a 3-for-4 day at the plate. Hancock finished just a home run shy of hitting for the cycle, smacking a single, double and a triple while finishing with two RBI and two runs scored.

The hosts fell behind 1-0 after the top of the first inning but took control of the game by scoring five runs through the first two frames. Mary Ann Maroni's club then scored two runs apiece in innings four through six, pulling away from Monument despite making a season-high six errors in the field.

"Fortunately the offense was sharp today, as the defense was uncharacteristically sloppy," Maroni said. "We committed six errors on a very dry, dusty field. We had three experienced players missing but some of the newer, younger girls were able to help out on the day."

Drury pitcher Cat Record helped her cause from the plate, going 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI. Eighth-grader Arianna Hilchey also had a double and two runs batted in, while sophomore Amber Iacuessa went 1 for 3 at the plate with one RBI.

Record improved her mark to 6-1 this year by striking out six in a complete-game effort. She allowed two earned runs on six hits without surrendering a walk. Aspen Sawyer struck out three and walked nine to take the loss for Monument.

The Blue Devils next play at North Division rival Mount Greylock at 4 p.m. on Monday.
