Stodden Leads Taconic Past Hoosac Valley in State Tourney

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Ella Stodden went 2-for-3 with a triple Monday to help the Taconic softball team earn a 4-1 win over Hoosac Valley in the Division 5 State Tournament Round of 32.
 
Brenna McNeice drove in a pair of runs, and Rylee Paronto doubled for the Thunder.
 
Paronto also struck out nine in the circle to earn the complete game win.
 
After Taconic took a 1-0 lead on Paronto’s RBI single in the bottom of the third, Hoosac Valley came back to tie it with a run in the top of the sixth when Gracelyn Wright doubled and scored.
 
The Thunder struck right back with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, capped by McNeice’ two-run single to drive in Maddie Harrington and Chey Goddard.
 
Wright’s hit was just the second of the game allowed by Paronto. Hannah Lord singled in the third.
 
Wright struck out four for Hoosac Valley.
 
Sixth-seeded Taconic (14-7) moves on to host Franklin Tech on Wednesday at 4:30.
 
Hoosac Valley finishes the year 9-13.
