O'Connell Leads Taconic Softball in Double-Header Sweep

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Payton O’Connell collected six hits Wednesday to lead the Taconic softball team to a double-header sweep over Drury at the Doyle Complex.
 
The teams played the twin-bill to make up a game that was rained out earlier this season.
 
In the first one, Taconic’s home game, O’Connell went 3-for-5 along with Taylar Ostrander to lead Taconic to a 12-7 win as the home team overcame an early 5-0 deficit.
 
Kiki Carrigan got the win in the circle and helped her own cause with a 4-for-4 performance at the plate.
 
Anna Dix went 2-for-5 for Drury in the loss.
 
In the nightcap, O’Connell, Aubrey Lazits and Jenyka Ostellino each went 3-for-6. Lazits scored three times, as did Delaney Ivas in a 15-7 victory.
 
Mary Lee got the win in the circle in that contest.
 
Olivia Mazacco was 2-for-4 at the plate for Drury (5-13), which closes with home games against Hoosac Valley and Mount Greylock on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
 
Taconic (5-11) travels to Mount Greylock on Thursday.
