Turners Falls' Ace Stymies Taconic Softball

MONTAGUE, Mass. – Madi Liimatainen struck out 16 on Tuesday to lead the Turners Falls softball team to a 9-2 win over Taconic.
 
Liimatainen set the tone early by striking out the side in order in the top of the first. She went on to strike out the side in the third and fourth innings.
 
Taconic got its first hit to lead off the third when Audrina Maloney singled. She went on to go 3-for-3 with an RBI in a five-hit Taconic attack.
 
In the top of the sixth, Brenna McNeice bunted her way aboard in the leadoff spot and eventually scored on a sacrifice bunt by Rylee Paronto.
 
In the seventh, Leena Schettini led off with a single and scored on Maloney’s RBI single.
 
Paronto took the loss in the circle for the Thunder.
 
Taconic (6-3) looks to snap a three-game losing streak on Thursday when it visits Mount Greylock.
