Mount Greylock Softball Reaches Western Mass Quarters

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Taylor Cornell hit a two-run double Thursday to spark the Mount Greylock softball team to a 4-2 win over Mohawk Trail in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament.
 
The Mounties jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first when Rachel Voller and Hailey Guest each singled and Carly Munzer reached on a fielder’s choice. Voller scored the game’s first run on a passed ball, and Cornell drove in Guest and Munzer.
 
Voller drove in the Mounties’ fourth run with a sacrifice fly to left to bring in Elena Cerveira.
 
Fiona Kelley got the win in the circle, scattering four hits.
 
Sixth-seeded Mount Greylock (11-10) on Monday will play in the quarter-finals against the winner of Saturday’s game between No. 14 Pioneer (10-10) and No. 3 Monson (14-5.
