Sweet Leads Mounties at Plate, in Circle in Win at Hoosac Valley

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Kamryn Sweet’s two-run double keyed a three-run seventh inning for the Mount Greylock softball team in a 5-2 win over Hoosac Valley on Tuesday.
 
Kelsey MacHaffie started the winning rally with a one-out single. Jordyn Codding and A.J. Pelkey then singled to load the bases.
 
Brodi Rosier drew an RBI walk to give the Mounties a 3-2 lead before Sweet doubled to left to score Codding and Pelkey.
 
Sweet went the distance in the circle, striking out nine, walking five and allowing just two hits.
 
Pelkey went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
 
Rylynn Witek doubled and drove in a run for the Hurricanes, who also got a double from Madi Puppolo.
 
Puppolo took the loss in the circle despite striking out 17.
 
Mount Greylock (5-1) hosts Pittsfield on Thursday.
 
Hoosac Valley hosts Wahconah on Thursday.
